Title: Arlington Seeks Park Maintenance Lead
The Town of Arlington seeks to fill the role of Park Maintenance Lead. The individual will be responsible for all maintenance tasks at the Arlington Recreation Park, with secondary work maintaining other town park, cultural, and recreational spaces including the Yellow Barn property, State Seal Pine property, and the Church Street median. These tasks primarily consist of mowing grass, string trimming, maintaining greens on the golf course, maintaining bathrooms, and emptying trash bins. The individual will work with the Town Administrator to plan park projects and non-routine maintenance activities.
The role is full time in the peak season, part time at the beginning and end of season, and, and 0-10 hours per week in the winter, 1200-1300 annual hours. Pay rate is $17 per hour, for a total annual compensation of approximately $22,000.
This is a full time equivalent role that includes VLCT health insurance with a zero-percent cost share, and municipal pension benefits, year round. The individual receives 48 hours of vacation time as part of their compensation package. The individual will have meaningful ability to flexibly set their schedule, so long as all regular maintenance is being successfully completed.
Applicants should have experience mowing grass, particularly commercially, using zero-turn mowers and string trimmers. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds required. Experience operating a tractor is a plus. Experience working on a golf course or mowing greens will distinguish a candidate, but we will arrange training on the subject. The individual should be a self-starter and comfortable with solitary work, knowing that they are responsible for ensuring all park tasks are being completed in a timely manner.
