Arlington Wastewater Committee August 1, 2024 Minutes

1. CALL TO ORDER at 7:05 pm
2. PUBLIC COMMENTS: None
3. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS: Motion to approve minutes of 3/21 meeting Jamie Paustian seconded by Andy Curtis, 4-0 motion approved.
4. NEW BUSINESS
4.1 General Update
TA Zaiac gave a brief overview of the current status of the project, reviewing the summary sent to the committee by Otter Creek Engineering. TA Zaiac presented figures on the number of units in each study/potential service area. Members discussed the proposals for the Yellow Barn site, East Arlington site, and the central site that includes expansion of the school plant to feed septic fields in the area to the south. Members found all proposals approximately in line on a per-home basis, acknowledging uncertainty on the overall density.
Members discussed the lack of capacity or consideration of proposals for direct discharge into the Battenkill and the reasons such proposals are not viable, including existing wastewater considerations upstream.
5. ALL OTHER BUSINESS
Next meeting was set for September 5, 2024 at 7 pm. TA Zaiac will send an status update with the 50% study from the engineer by the end of the prior week.
