SPECIAL ARLINGTON SELECT BOARD MEETING
September 20, 2021

Also Present (via Zoom, phone or in person) : Nick Zaiac – Town Administrator, Mike King-Fire Chief, Jamie Paustian-Fire Warden, and Darren Marcy-Manchester Journal
The meeting was called to order at 7:00PM
Public Comments: None
Old Business: Fire Truck Purchase Decision: The Board, Mr. Zaiac, Mr. King and Mr. Paustian held this special meeting to finalize the purchase of a new firetruck. They discussed the differences in the RFP’s from Shakerley Fire Truck/VRS Sales and E-One, Inc. that had been submitted last week. Mr. Paustian pointed out several aspects of the E-One Freightliner that made it a better choice than the truck from Shakerley Fire Truck/VRS Sales. Chassis size was the main benefit to the E-One Freightliner. Delaying the decision to avoid making a rushed choice was discussed, as well as starting over with new RFP’s, but the knowledge of substantially increasing truck prices by November made it important to finalize the decision at the meeting and not delay the process.
Ms. Browning made a motion to approve the purchase of the E-One Freightliner for $423,446. Mr. Harvey seconded. The vote was 5-0, unanimously approving the purchase.
Mr. Harvey made a motion to adjourn. Ms. Browning seconded. Motion passed.
