4. WindowDressers Update: October 17-23 (Th-Wed), with Oct 18-22 as work days, to be held at the First Congregational Church in Manchester. Bryan Dalton, former member of the AEC and core member of the WD crew, has received permission from the Arlington Food Cupboard for the AEC to post information at the new AFC location to get the word out to folks who could use insulating inserts.
5. The Good News Arlington Energy & Resilience Fair: Plans are coming along; The Yellow Barn, Window Dressers, Lions Club and others will be presenting. There will be a contest for ideas on conserving and sequestering carbon. There will be a tent with food, live music, and a showing of Kiss the Ground in the performance hall. Thought is being given to minimizing the C footprint of supplying the food. Paula Kamperman of the Bennington County Solid Waste Alliance will be there; Lions Club hopes to start a walking club and sneaker return. We will collect book titles for people to learn more about energy efficiency.
6. Marcus Jones of Living Buildings gave a thought-provoking presentation on his innovative work to construct new houses and upgrade older ones which involves using reclaimed materials and building structural insulating, rammed-earth walls for passive solar heating. This work has been done elsewhere (in Canada) very successfully. Marcus will present his work at the energy fair.
