Arlington Energy Committee Minutes 3.29.21

Arlington Town Energy Committee

March 29, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. via Zoom

Present: Chair: Stephanie Moffett-Hynds, Mardi Crane, Bryan Dalton (notes), Karen Lee.

Guest: Town Administrator Nick Zaiac (Zoom host)

Next meeting: Monday, April 12, 7:00 p.m. via Zoom (link from N. Zaiac)

Town Hall LED: At the Select Board meeting April 5, Bryan will do presentation with help from the Michigan students. We will recommend the SB change the lights to LED but be sure to involve the people working in the building in the process.  Nick confirmed the approximately $500 needed to purchase 99 LEDs is still in the budget for this year, so we will recommend doing all the lighting at once.  ARPA funding strings may possibly be used for this and/or the attic insulation. Town’s staff and AEC volunteers can swap out the bulbs.  Mardi reported good experience of quality, price and service with www.suncolighting.com for her home. For now, we’ll leave the question of LEDs for Town Garage aside.

County-wide meeting 3/30 at 5:30 via Zoom. The more AEC members can attend, the better.

AEC By-laws: Karen ran through the draft and incorporated suggestions from AEC and Nick into a revised draft she will circulate to the committee. Majority of quorum will need to approve, then the SB will bless them.

Energy-saving tool: Bill Christian has designed a DIY home energy audit and savings tool. Let’s consider how best to get it out: paper, QR code, email, FB , video, etc.

2021 Goals: Karen moved, Mardi seconded and all voted yes that our next meeting include discussion of our goals for 2021.
