The Town of Arlington seeks to fill the role of Land Use Administrator. This individual is also expected to hold the independently-appointed Sign Administrator position. The role runs to April 2021 (Sign Administrator April 2022), and is compensated at a rate of $17.51 per hour for 6 hours per week plus 2 monthly evening meetings. These meetings run from approximately 7 to 9 pm on nights decided by the relevant commissions. Most work takes place remotely at this time but will move to in-person hours once COVID-19 restrictions on in-person office work are lifted.
This role supports the work of the Town Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Adjustment, reviewing and assisting the filing of planning documents, conducting visits to proposed building sites, writing zoning compliance letters, and other administrative tasks. Beyond this, the Land Use Administrator helps oversee updates to and compliance with Arlington’s zoning bylaw and any and all state laws that govern the functioning of said bylaw. This role is independent of the Arlington Select Board and reports directly to the Arlington Town Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Adjustment, and may only be terminated with consent of the Planning Commission.
There is no particular qualification for the role, but we hope to appoint someone who is computer-literate, with good time management and organizational skills. If you’ve successfully filed a zoning permit, in Arlington or elsewhere in Vermont, that experience would certainly prove beneficial.
Please send inquiries or expressions of interest to firstname.lastname@example.org or call 802-379-9916. Expect to do a first interview with the Town Administrator and a second interview with one or more elected or appointed public officials. The role will remain open until 12/8/2020 or until the town has reviewed a satisfactory number of candidates.
