SPECIAL ARLINGTON SECECTBOARD
April 15, 2024
Members Present: Dan Harvey, Cynthia Browning and Jamie Paustian
Members Absent: Todd Wilkins, Glenn Sherman
Also Present: Nick Zaiac – Town Administrator, Mark Rondeau-Bennington Banner, and Janet Barry- via Zoom
The meeting was called to order at 7:25PM, by Mr. Harvey.
Agenda Additions: Ms. Browning made a motion to add the park mower option and Executive Session to the agenda. Mr. Paustian seconded. Motion carried.
Public Comments: None
New Business: Treasurer Transition Agreement: Ms. Browning made a motion to approve Option #3 in the letter from the Treasurer offering transition help, dated 4/10/24, not to exceed 10-15 hours per week for $35.00 per hour. Mr. Paustian seconded. Motion carried unanimously with Mr. Wilkins and Mr. Sherman absent.
Park Field Work Approval: It was discussed that the school will pay half the bill for the softball and baseball field maintenance, and the Town will pay the other half. Ms. Browning made a motion to authorize the future payment for repairs at the softball field for Woodard Construction, for $3,589. Mr. Paustian seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously, with Mr. Wilkins and Mr. Sherman absent.
Mower Offer Authorization: It was discussed that there had been a donation made to the Park Committee for a new mower for the Park. Mr. Knight is seeking authorization to list the existing Kubota mower, that has had many issues, at auction. Ms. Browning made a motion to authorize the sale at auction of the existing Kubota mower. Mr. Paustian seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously, with Mr. Wilkins and Mr. Sherman absent. Proceeds will go back into the Park Equipment Fund.
All Other Business: Ms. Browning said she had taken the old curtains from the meeting room to be cleaned, but they will need to be repaired before they can be dry cleaned. She will try to find someone to do the repairs.
Executive Session: Ms. Browning made a motion that premature discussion of a personnel issue would cause the municipality to suffer substantial disadvantage. Seconded by Mr. Paustian. Ms. Browning made a motion to enter into Executive Session for discussion of a personnel issue, and to allow Town Administrator, Nick Zaiac to remain in the room. Seconded by Mr. Paustian. The Board entered Executive Session at 7:36PM. The Board exited Executive Session at 8:00PM, with no motions needed as the result of the Session.
Ms. Browning made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Mr. Paustian seconded. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 8:00PM.
