New Business: Hydrant Construction Bids:   The Board reviewed three bids for installation of a fire hydrant at Dr. Sherman’s property in East Arlington.  Herrmann – $45.00 per hour, Jerome – $50.00 per hour, TMB – $70.00 per hour.  Mr. Bykowski made a motion to award the hourly bid for the East Arlington Fire Hydrant Project to Herrmann Construction for $45.00 per hour each, for two men, with approximately twelve hours for the work. Mr. Williams seconded. Motion passed. Ms. Browning and Mr. Wilkins were not present.

Appointment:    Mr. Bykowski made a motion to appoint Mr. Zaiac as Chief Administrator for the Arlington Water Department. Mr. Williams seconded. Motion passed. Ms. Browning and Mr. Wilkins were not present.

Verizon Connect:  The Commissioners spoke to Mr. Snow about their desire to have Verizon Connect telematics installed in the Water Department truck, as it is going to be done in the Highway Department trucks.  It will have the same features as it does for the Highway trucks.  A forward-facing camera for liability purposes, and the ability to track data needed for maintenance are two of the advantages to the product.  Mr. Bykowski made a motion to approve installation of Verizon Connect in the Water Department truck for $43.00 per month, to coincide with the same platform as for the Highway Department. Mr. Williams seconded. Motion passed.

Water Loss in System:   Mr. Snow presented the Commissioners with figures of water loss in the system. It was noted that the information will help to build a baseline to better track water loss, and that the losses have been consistent quarter to quarter for four quarters, and was much improved after a leak at Munn Terrace was repaired in the past. It was discussed that no system has zero leaks but needs to be managed to acceptable loss amounts.

Dutch Lane Fire Hydrant:  Mr. Snow discussed the fire hydrant near the Rec Park. It has been repaired many times but needs to be raised to help with drainage. Mr. Bykowski made a motion to approve relocation and raising of Dutch Lane Fire Hydrant. Ms. Browning seconded. Motion passed.

The Special Meeting adjourned at 6:43PM, before the start of the regularly scheduled Select Board meeting.

The next regularly scheduled Water Department Meeting will be October 19, 2020 at 7PM.
