Arlington Select Board Special Meeting April 29, 2024 Minutes

1. CALL TO ORDER at 7:00 pm
2. PUBLIC COMMENTS: None
3. NEW BUSINESS
Sidewalk Hearing: Member Wilkins made a motion to cancel the previously-scheduled hearing pursuant to 19 V.S.A. Chapter 7. Member Paustian seconded. Approved unanimously.
4. OLD BUSINESS
Fire pickup truck and associated equipment purchase
The Board reviewed three responses to the RFP issued the previous week. They were:
DePaula Chevrolet for $54,497.50 for a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Crew Custom 4WD
Stephens of Bennington for $50,868 for a 2024 Ram 2500 Tradesman 4×4 Crew Cab 6’4” box
Autosaver Group Springfield Cadillac GMC for $56,400 for a 2024 GMC Sierra 2500 4WD Crew Cab Pro
The Town Administrator noted that all met the minimum specifications set forth in the RFP. He noted that the proposals were not circulated in advance of the meeting. Board members and members of the Fire Department present reviewed the proposals for a few minutes. Member Wilkins noted that there were some differences in fringe features across the vehicles, as to be expected. Members of the Fire Department encouraged agreement with the lowest cost proposal to preserve the maximum amount of funds for future fire truck purchases.
Member Browning made a motion to award the purchase to Stephens of Bennington for $50,898. Seconded by Member Wilkins. Approved unanimously.
Members reviewed the estimate the Acting Chief got for outfitting of the vehicle with a truck bed cap, bed drawer, and direct power supply. Member Wilkins made a motion to authorize spending not to exceed $9000 from the Fire Truck sinking fund to outfit the new vehicle. Seconded by member Browning. Approved unanimously.
5. ADJOURNMENT: Motion to adjourn Member Sherman, Seconded by Member Wilkins, motion carried unanimously adjourned 7:16 pm
